child welfare family law legal analysis policy development comparative analysis social work problem solvingThe project aims to address the discrepancies between the British Columbia Family Law Act (BCFLA) and the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA) to enhance family integrity and child well-being. Currently, these two legal frameworks operate independently, sometimes leading to conflicting outcomes that may not prioritize the best interests of children and families. By aligning these acts, the project seeks to create a more cohesive legal environment that supports family unity and child welfare. The project will involve a comprehensive analysis of both acts, identifying areas of conflict and proposing amendments or guidelines that harmonize their objectives. This initiative provides learners with the opportunity to apply their knowledge of family law and social services, fostering skills in legal analysis, policy development, and collaborative problem-solving.
The project will culminate in a detailed report outlining the identified conflicts between the BCFLA and CFCSA, along with proposed amendments or guidelines for alignment. Additionally, a presentation will be prepared to communicate the findings and recommendations to stakeholders. The deliverables will include a comparative analysis, a set of proposed legal amendments, and a stakeholder presentation, all aimed at enhancing family integrity and child well-being.
