Bio

I'm a registered midwife with 10 years of experience providing primary maternity and newborn care. For me, maternal health is much more than a career, it’s a passion and a calling that she has dedicated herself to. She has taken a leave from clinical practice to found Womb & Wellness, a network that addresses the gaps in maternity care by helping clients connect with complementary services, resources and support. More recently, I've launched Ancestral Hands Midwives, a non profit organization with a mission to improve the outcomes and experiences of Black people during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. By focusing on cultural competency, education, access and empowerment, Ancestral Hands Midwives aims to make a positive impact on Black maternal health in Ontario.

AHM Care Connect AI Triage System

Ancestral Hands Midwives (AHM) aims to enhance patient care and safety by developing AHM Care Connect, an AI-driven triage system. The primary goal is to provide 24/7 access to midwifery support, guiding clients on whether to seek urgent care or wait to contact their provider. This system is designed to improve patient safety, reduce unnecessary ER visits, and enhance overall care satisfaction. The project will involve creating a user-friendly interface, integrating AI algorithms for accurate triage, and ensuring data privacy and security. The learners will apply their classroom knowledge in AI, healthcare systems, and user experience design to develop a functional prototype.

Healthcare Directory Part 2

At Ancestral Hands Midwives one of our main goals is to provide the Black community with equitable access to high quality health care. To achieve this we need your help to create a Black healthcare provider directory. Students should be prepared to: Familiarize themselves with the Directorist Wordpress plugin and the provided “How to” documents. Research and compile a list of providers that can be added to the directory. Add providers once approved. Add newly submitted provider information to the directory. Edit and update existing directory entries as needed. Create a simple step by step guide to updating the directory. Deliverables Based on your research, create a spreadsheet of providers to add to the directory. Use Directorist to add your list of providers to the existing directory. Update and/or edit existing listings on Directorist (a list will be provided). Create a “How to” guide with step by step instructions on how to edit and add providers to the directory.
